    Students should wear uniforms

Schools should not force students to wear uniforms because it violates freedom of expression and freedom of speech, which are in the First Amendment. It also will not prevent bullying as people can still bully based on disability, gender, race, etc.

    Students should wear uniforms.

So to recap, students should wear uniforms because they help behavior, because they are more professional and because the students would be bullied less. Thank you for debating with me, I appreciated it. And with that, I am done.

1b)If a family is poor then they won't be able to afford...

Public Schools should not have to wear school uniforms

I accept the challenge. Firstly I would like to say that I think a lot of schools take uniform waaayyyy to seriously. But personally I think that there should be school uniform but you should be allowed to wear whatever shoes you want (within reason) and have your hair, makeup, jewellery and bags as you want. The reasons for this are as follows. 1a) Bullying and peer pressure can often be the result of non school uniform. Where school uniform is not present; a child is somewhat forced to choose what to wear and could be targeted because of it. Also it makes peer pressure more prominent. Some kids could be forced to wear something they don't want to wear just because it's 'cool'. 1b)If a family is poor then they won't be able to afford as nice clothes so they may be targeted because of the amount of money they have. 1ci) Similar to point 1b, parents or children may end up feeling forced to spend money that could be used better elswhere on 'cool' clothes so their kids don't get picked on. 1cii) Hand me downs are a perfect example of a pro for school uniform. If it stays the same, parents with more than one child can give younger children the older children's old clothes saving money. This might not be able to happen with other clothes because the younger child may have different style choices for example. 2) Experts believe that children who wearschooluniforms do better academically. This is due to a myriad of reasons, including not wasting time in the morning getting ready, lack of distractions, and a more formal studying environment. 3) It prepares children for later life when they may need to wear a certain uniform/type of clothing in the workplace. 4) It is an important safety thing for school trips, outings and even problems at the school. It helps prevent children getting lost on school trips and if there was say a fire at a school building which was connected to other buildings for other things (Workplaces etc) then outside in amongst the panic school children would be easily identifiable. 5) With no school uniform it would be miles harder for staff as they would have to spend a lot more time enforcing the uniform policy to ensure it was appropriate clothing (eg not too revealing, no unacceptable symbolism like the swastika etc) and it would be much harder to enforce and much easier for children to overstep the line and claim they can't be punished because the rules weren't clear. Thank you, and I look forward to your arguments and rebuttals. Sources [1] http://www.buzzle.com... [2] http://en.wikipedia.org...

    School Uniform

Unfortunately I don't feel my opponent really provided a convincing argument in favour of school uniforms. He did mention that some schools think of dressing freely as a privilege. Presumably to encourage good behaviour. This wont work for several reasons. Those students who are alienated from the school system aren't going to behave well just so they don't have to wear a uniform. There are many things that cause bad behaviour, one important one is alienation from the school. In fact this kind of threat will more likely alienate them even more as they will see it as a form of blackmail. Those that get given a uniform as punishment could also wear it as a badge of pride in the same way as getting a detention is a way of earning respect. There are several other arguments often provided to support school uniform. For instance, that they promote Unity. They don't because what happens is the independent minded will become agitated by this and will find ways to disrupt the atmosphere of the school. Not good for Unity. Also people claim that Uniform makes it easier for teachers to identify their students on school trips and such. Well if they are looking for a particular student it then becomes harder for them to find the person they are looking for due to all the students being dressed the same. Also most students don't really need to be babysat on school trips as they can look after themselves. Unless of course you mean those aged 10 or under in which case the school shouldn't be taking them somewhere dangerous anyway. I think that It does matter if a school has a uniform or not. If the uniform isn't mandatory then I am fine with it being a free choice for people to wear. However trying to force people to wear a particular set of clothing is unjustified and an unnecessary restriction on pupils. Perhaps if there wasn't a school uniform pupils would feel less inclined to misbehave as they will have less reason to. I look forward to my opponents response. Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

In my opinion uniforms are too strict. It makes people look dole and it doesn't brighten the environment. For safe learning experience let everyone feel free by not wearing uniforms.

    Uniforms in Private Schools

Topic: The institution of uniforms should be allowed in private schools. My side: Pro There's a reason why there are private schools. All public schools have to comply to the general rules and standards that their respective district imposes upon them and for a significant number of those rules apply to all the public schools in the nation as a whole. Private schools exist because of a large group of individuals do not concur with how the education system is organized and structured. There are certain rules and regulations that the founders of private schools regard as unnecessary or even wrong. Not all private schools require uniforms, but those that do, find the clothing that some children and young adults wear is inappropriate for a learning environment. In order to effectively accomplish what schools are built for, which is to learn and gain new knowledge, these private schools find that enforcing a dress code improves the focus and classroom behavior in a learning environment. You argue that enforcing this policy restricts the youth in creativity. Clothing are often popularized and worn in fashion trends that occur locally and nationally. Many people in the world dress in a certain way in order to fit in a particular group of people, not to be an individual. Rarely do people dress to practice and challenge their creativity and appear in an original fashion. Even if uniforms do restrict creativity in some way, creativity is certainly not restricted to fashion. There are unlimited possibilities for people to be creative other than how they dress. They could write prose, draw art, devise a project, research on a topic and discover new information, and so on.

Now, that may be desired by some, but the majority would...

should public school students wear uniforms

Depending on how strict a school is, students may not be able to just "change the uniform into a clothing style that they want." In my school, along with the required colors and types of clothing are regulations on how one can wear them. In high school guys like to wear their pants to that they are sagging. http://www.urbandictionary.com... The dress code prevents this, it prevents them from making it into their own style. Baggy clothes, permitted in a school without a dress code, look unprofessional and any school with a decent uniform policy would make sure baggy clothes are not allowed. Soccer teams are less strict and will let their players be comfortable to increase their performance. They don't have to worry about appearance like a school does because by the end of a game they will be dirty and sweaty anyway. So yes, female students may slightly change the style of the uniform, but will be heavily limited by a uniform policy. The result will be nice, fitting clothes, increasing attractiveness, and the overall moral of the male student body. In the first round I stated that my school makes all students tuck in their shirts. There is nothing worse than when a nice female behind is covered up by whatever shirt they are wearing. A dress code that requires shirts to be tucked in removes this problem and gives up gentlemen a complete unobstructed view of said nice female's behind. Normally the only hind end available to us is that of the promiscuous sluts with the slutty big butt. Now, that may be desired by some, but the majority would prefer to look at the nice innocent females. I would provide pictures, but I am in school so I cannot.

    Kids Should Wear Uniforms

Kids should wear uniforms because they can't be bullied about what the are wearing. They also won't have to scream and cry in the morning because you can't find something to wear. Finally they won't get picked on if they can only afford one outfit because no one would ever know.

    School Uniform Should Be Banned

School uniform should definitely be banned for many reasons. First of all, pupils should be able and should be encouraged to express themselves and be creative with what they wear. Everyone wearing the same uniform takes away their individuality and the right to be able to wear whatever they want. Own clothes are more comfortable and in the cold, school uniforms aren't warm enough. Surely we can wear badges to say which school we are from, especially on school trips! If we are comfortable wearing our own clothes in class we should be able to focus better in class. School uniform can be very expensive as compared to our own clothes as well as if not washed quick enough it can pose a real problem. No matter what you dress students who bully others will always find a reason to do so. Making everyone wear the same clothes is not going to make the problem magically disappear. To conclude, students wearing their own clothes will be able to express themselves, show individuality and spend less money.
