    Uniforms in Private Schools

You need to be a little less rude and focus on the debate. Yes, I go to a private school and I used my person experience. Actually, as I type this I am wearing my uniform now. We should get rid of uniforms, but keep a dress code because uniforms are ugly and they don't seem to flatter the body. I get a little bullied at school by one person because apparently I look "fat" in it. I always defend myself, but that's beside the point. PS: I would love it if you were a little more respectful toward your opponents. You come across as aggresive and mean and no person should come across like that. Please be a little more respectful.

Why should I have to wear matching clothing just to stop...

school unifroms should not be banned

School uniforms creates unity" Proof? They also are pricey and many kids view it as a pain in the butt. I would know, we adopted uniforms in elementary school, 2nd grade. I remember solidly that the teacher gave an assignment to us to write a paper on our opinion based on an article about it. I was very against it as most students were. The unifying feeling does not have to come to uniforms. It's not like cliques don't exist because of they are used. I would feel just fine and I would know because again, in elementary school and middle school had uniforms. Still didn't make many friends. Bullying existed still. All it did was an another pain to think about when thinking of school. "In addition to that they are a form of identification. Identification at sometimes can be very crucial let us say a kindergarten 2 child is lost but is wearing a uniform. People can identify which school that student comes from." There are other solutions! And more comfortable too! "Also school uniforms can save parents' money." No! This was of one of the biggest complaints back when it was implemented in my elementary school years. Parents often already have clothing for summer and non school days and formerly for school as well! Now they have to spend more money and shopping time on uniforms. I am pretty sure many parents did not like having to put all the clothes they already had away and make space for more clothing only for school. Side note, guy from elementary school was not exactly the kindest dude happened to be one of the kids that had parents for uniforms. Uniforms reduce bullying? One may bully another because of what clothes the other wears. Ok? So teach students not to bully. On anything. Why should I have to wear matching clothing just to stop the bullying? I do not have enough characters to respond to the rest that you wrote, But I will try to in the next part

Thank you for your response. Rebuttals 1. It is...

Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

Thank you for your response. Rebuttals 1. It is irrelevant whether students want to wear uniforms or not, as it is irrelevant whether students want to go to school or not. Private schools have the right to institute school uniforms, and seeing that uniforms provide a plethora of benefits private schools ought to implement them. 2. It is irrelevant whether school, or even classes, are boring or not. Teachers do not have to entertain their students; they’re only job is to teach their students. In addition, you argument does not take away from the fact that regardless of whether the class is boring or not, implementing school uniforms still eliminated a potential distraction. 3. Even if it does not eliminate bullying all together, it does eliminate a factor that may be victim to bullying, thus reduce bullying. If bullying still continues, that is not the fault of school uniforms, rather the problem lies within bullies themselves. If that is the case, the school should work towards eliminating bullying as a whole and not factors that either cause bullying or are victims to bullying. 4. Most schools do not have security guards, or even necessarily security gates to keep strangers off of campus. This argument directly applies to school that do not have these security measures. Implementing uniforms is a security measure in itself in that it helps to identify students from nonstudents. 5. That is an appeal to personal experience, and can therefore not be trusted as a valid argument. The fact stays that clothing may easily represent wealth, wear wealthier kids will be able to keep up with trending fashions or even more expensive clothing whereas less fortunate kids will not, and even have to go as far as to wear old, outdated, or worn clothing. This can easily make them victims to bullying through snide comments about them being poor, ect. 6. I am not arguing that uniforms increase academic performance, because studies have been inconclusive or have found that uniforms do not increase academic performance. Students do not only talk about clothing, there is much more to talk about. They can talk about their social lives, families, social media, clubs, sports, classes, ect. Therefore your argument that they will have nothing to talk about is invalid. 7. I have provided seven sources backing up this argument, whereas you have only concluded through your own opinion that there is no correlation. There this argument can be considered dropped. Over to you.

It doesn’t matter what the parents decide, or what the...

Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

My opponent has failed to recognize that private schools have the right to institute their own rules, and do so without permission or thoughts from the parents. My opponent’s response to my arguments is similar, and mine will be also. My opponent entirely misses the point; he ignores the argument itself and instead responds with “that should be the decision of so-and-so.” By completely dodging the argument itself, he has essentially dropped the argument, and decided to argue something irrelevant to the topic at hand. The resolution isn’t that parents should have an active rule in making decisions with/for private schools. The resolution is that private schools should have school uniforms implemented. 1. Your response is irrelevant to my argument. I argued student equality and self-esteem in this section and you responded that patrons should be able to decide whether they send a student to a school that has uniforms. Implementing school uniforms institutes a controlled environment that helps take pressure off of children. 2. It doesn’t matter what the parents decide, or what the parents do about it. The fact remains that implementing school uniforms that free dress clothing is a potential distraction to students, and it’s a benefit to have that distraction removed via uniform implementation. 3. It is irrelevant what the parents and students want. This is a private school, and private schools have the sole power over any rules they decide to implement. Implementing uniforms eliminates a variable that is prone to bullying, which can therefore reduce bullying and victims. If bullying continues this time focused on a different variable, the problem lies within the bullies themselves and not any variables that are prone to being victim by bullies. At that point, schools should take action to eliminate bullying itself. In addition, your argument doesn’t even apply to how uniforms provide a sense of community, which is psychologically beneficial to students. 4. I am arguing that it is worth it, and that this is one of the several benefits uniforms provide. All of these benefits provide justification that schools implement school uniforms. 5. Same as three. 6. Again, it does not matter what families think; private schools exercise the sole power to implement any rules they want. You did not respond to the argument itself, and have therefore dropped the argument. 7. Again, its not about what parents think. The Long Beach study had every student in the district wear uniforms for years. This means that schools of all sorts had to have their students wear uniforms. Other than that, you have done nothing to refute the statistics I have presented showing that uniforms help to prevent student behavioral problems. This debate isn’t about what families think they need for their children; it is about private schools implementing a policy that is overall good for the well being of students as a whole. Private schools have the right to institute many rules that public schools cannot, including the ability to implement school uniforms.

students should not were uniforms in school

I think students shouldn't wear uniforms because kids want to be able to express there style. People say its going to help with the 'bullying' problem but its not. it will make the bull even more creative. They wont have to make fun of your cloths they will make fun of what you look like, what you think is fun, and how much money you have.

People should be able to express themselves no matter what. Second of all I take a lot longer getting clothes ready for school because most of my stuff has missing buttons because of poor build quality.

There are many reasons to encourage school uniforms like...

THBT:it is necessary to wear school uniform

Debating about whether students should wear uniforms in schools; however, When you read about schools around the world, A high percentage of those surveyed support school uniforms. Many schools agree that uniforms help remove economic barriers, Build feelings of community, And reduce instances of bullying. Our APA Dress Code is founded on similar beliefs that uniforms decrease distractions, Simplify the morning routine, Increase respect for each student, And prepare students for success by teaching professional dress. There are many reasons to encourage school uniforms like the ones worn at American Preparatory Academy. Here are some of them. School uniforms promote learning. Our program is rigorous and requires full attention to be successful. We believe our students" focus should be on what they are learning and not on what they are wearing. School uniforms nourish a sense of equality. When students have similar expectations for dress, Unhealthy competitive feelings about looks are reduced. Students can stand out because of their character and not their clothes. School uniforms promote a feeling of community. At APA, We believe our school dress should complement our learning culture. We are preparing our students for success in college and beyond. We want our students to have a proper expectation of professionalism. When our students wear uniforms, They feel included. They are part of a team working toward success in the classroom and life. School uniforms make it easier to get ready for school. One of the best reasons for school uniforms? No more indecision about what to wear in the morning! Uniforms help prevent embarrassing problems while promoting self-discipline. We have developed a standard of dress that is reliable for everyone. We want to help our kids avoid issues related to modesty and cleanliness. Dirty and unkept outfits quickly become a non-issue when there is a standard. School uniforms improve safety. Keeping track of students and what they carry into our schools is made easier for staff and other students. Intruders can be identified right away by our school community because they stand out. School uniforms do not eliminate individuality. Our students have fun participating in the occasional spirit wear or free dress day; however, These days are not the focus for our kids. The character of the individual student is our focus. Our kids shine because of who they are, Not how they look. School uniforms are more affordable. At the beginning of the school year, Our families typically purchase two sets of uniforms for each of their students. Many of our uniform vendors provide durable options that stand up to repeated washing and wear. Parents may need to replace an item or two throughout the year; however, This is often due to children growing up so fast. Overall, Our families save money with uniforms by not having to keep up with the latest fashion trends. Parents and teachers support school uniforms. Administrators and teachers are highly in favor of school uniforms at American Preparatory Academy. Our staff manual states that our, "staff must match the level of formality of our students. " Most parents say that they love the convenience of school uniforms, And they can tell that students have more confidence when they wear them. The student dress code at American Preparatory Academy is one that helps create an environment of respect and dignity. Student dress exemplifies students" respect for themselves, Their classmates, And learning. When everyone is wearing the same thing, Students can focus on essential issues like academics and character.

Refutation to your arguments: 1. Not wearing a uniform...

Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

Refutation to your arguments: 1. Not wearing a uniform will let the student express who they want to be, thus increasing their self-esteem. I see what you mean by others who cannot afford uniform, but no one wants to wear them. 2. If school wasn't as boring as it is, then teachers shouldn't have to worry about their students being distracted. If faculty does more to help students become hands-on learners, they wouldn't have to worry about wearing uniform. 3. It won't reduce bullying, if a bully wants to bully a kid, he/she is going to do it, with or without uniform. Everyone that goes to that school is apart of the same school. 4. I see where you're coming from that, but for closed schools, it shouldn't be a problem since you have to go through several security guards standing at the gates. 5. Even if you don't have the latest fashion, no one will make fun of you. I wear age-old clothes to school, and people think I'm stylish. 6. By not wearing school uniforms, the students have more opportunities to express themselves, and boost their imagination. Even by not wearing uniforms, their academic standing will stay the same. But if you implement uniforms on them, they will get bored by not having things to do, or talk about. 7. Wearing uniforms have no real correlation with those statistics

    School Uniforms

Through our academic learning period, we have many distractions we must cope with, while going through the education process. These distractions are wide-ranging, but most string from the same topic, popularity. Through the process of making the school uniform universal, you could take away the hierarchy that occurs. Through making the clothing universal everyone appears to be equal and can concentrate on school work, the task they are there for. However, the dress code would be something comfortable and non distracting. This could let students concentrate on their education. As a professor of mine has always said, "Your scholar years are the ones to try your hardest. How you spend this time will decide your fate in society." Also, to address the issue of a universal dress code- there are many more ways to express individuality, other than clothing. For example, individuality can be achieved through extra-curricular programs in which you can communicate your mindset. Overall, a school uniform dress code would lead to a better academic community.
