If they bought stuff to help us, they'd lose money. ......

Soft drinks should be sold at school

Let's look at your argument "First, I confidently believe that soft drinks shouldn"t be sold at schools, because soft drinks are causing troubles on our behaviours, concentrations, learning abilities, inhibitions and overall general health issues caused by the ingredients of sugars, carbon dioxide, artificial sweeteners, acids, sodium, artificial flavourings & colours and preservatives in each can or bottle of soft drink. Also, due to scientific researches showing on http://www.rethinksugarydrink.org.au......, it stated if a student drinks one can of 600ml of regular soft drink every day for a year this equals to 23kg of sugar and 6.75kg of fats, or one can of 250ml of energy drink equals to 24g of sugar and a 1600ml bottle of regular soft drink equals to 64g of sugar. It also stated that..." A279;Assuming that someone does drink everyday for a year. Not everyone drinks one can a day for a year your source is targeting Australian citizens, not citizens abroad. "Also, bone breaking causing by carbonate from soft drinks corroding bones in our body and made bones loss of calcium & vitamin D; and tooth decay caused by sugar from the soft drinks stuck in our tooth and grows bacteria in the plague, which gives us horrible yellow tooth and smelling breath; are some examples that messed up our growth process." Yet again, not everyone drinks soda every day. Moderation is key. "So, I thought there is no use for schools to offer such expensive drinks, instead schools should using the money on sporting equipment, library books, stationaries, camps, excursions, uniforms and heaps more healthy choices for us" Schools will keep selling soft drinks TO OBTAIN money. If they bought stuff to help us, they'd lose money. They don't care too much about you unless it makes them lose money or gain money. "FEEDBACK FROM MY TEACHER!!!" I'm stopping you right there. I don't care what your teacher has to say. I want to know what YOU have to say. Leave him/her out of it. Now my argument. The average vending machine in schools earn around $15,000 a year{http://www.districtadministration.com...} . That's a lot for the school, including the expenses. I see you want to keep the vending machines but sell something else. However, most students would prefer soda over juice. Soda is more addictive, so they'll buy it more often. That's why the schools sell soda and not juice. To make money. Juice isn't as addictive as soda, not a lot of caffeine in them. So by removing soda, you're still hurting the school. The sales of juice wouldn't be as high as soda.

Proposition basically says that school is necessary...

    The Uniqueness of School

Proposition basically says that school is necessary because it (1) makes communication with diverse people necessary, as parents do not choose where their children go, (2) homeschooling and extra-curricular activities connected to it cannot bring that diversity, for the attending group is self-selecting rather than “unfiltered mixture”. We believe that none of the two assumptions is warranted nor true. Firstly, parents still select schools for their children on the basis of common values, cultures and achievements – and even go as far as to move closer to the school they want in order to fall into its catchment area [[http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2009/oct/25/chicken-run-city-schools]]. As such, public schools then offer blatant misrepresentations of the society, as exemplified by DC public schools, where less than 5 % of children are white, although whites account for 40.6 % of DC population [[http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/11000.html]]. Proposition policy bars no parent from sending their child to a religious or a predominantly white school; if anything, it strengthens incentives for doing so. This phenomenon of “rational racism” is well-accounted for in modern research, most recently by Tim Harford’s Logic of Life: no Proposition mechanism changes this. What stems therefrom is that a child’s environment is often only as diverse as parents allow it to be – and there is no change to that with homeschooling ban. Secondly, we think it rubbish that homeschooling should somehow eliminate diversity from socialization in sports teams or other clubs. What members of a basketball team or, indeed, a debate club share is not race, religion, nor income bracket: it is the desire to participate. We think that this volitional common goal is much more likely to bring tolerance and integration than forcing parents and children alike into one classroom; the latter is more likely to produce resentment to society in general and minorities in particular

Also, relating to the want to do more things, in order to...

    # SHORTER SCHOOL HOURS# YES OR NO (please click yes)

Well, I see that you want more time outside of school, yes? Well, Id say, give it longer hours. Yes, let school go on longer. Give each school day an extra 2 hours. Give the school one hour in the morning, and one during the afternoon. This is much easier for parents to deal with since most of everyone has to work an 8 hour shift. Also, relating to the want to do more things, in order to keep school balanced, how would the two hours work? Simple. They take an entire day off. Id like a three-day weekend. A two-day weekend is to short. Sure, there are kids that want to work. Well, with an extra day, you will be able to get the hours you need without a problem. A longer school day is a better solution than giving the school shorter hours, which would make the week even longer. When observing all the pros and cons, a longer school day is a better system for everyone. You may not mind having more days in school, but some do. Parents need to be able to get to work and take care of their kids. A longer school day could make that happen.

If the kids does not follow the dress code exactly then they will be in trouble at school. It is a waste of money because most of the time the kid would never wear the clothes any other time. Firstly, when you get to writing actual papers, yes...

    Reasons why I dislike school

Firstly, when you get to writing actual papers, yes almost every single one does require some sort of research. Again, it gives you the opportunity to learn more by finding out more on a topic. You may find it annoying, but it's not really debatable. Secondly, if that happens, then that person did not try and do not care about their grades. You go to school to learn. You go to learn and you may have to do additional research to learn more about a subject. Thirdly, no, it's not really. Again, learning is good. Just because you are annoyed and frustrated with school doesn't mean those things will later be irrelevant. Knowledge is never a bad thing to have, nor is expanding by learning something. And finally yeah it may be annoying and stupid to you. But it isn't really debatable that you do not like it and find it stupid. Much of this isn't really debatable things just complaints about why you don't like school.

It would benefit teachers, not the economy. Besides, if teachers are really deserving of a pay-rise, it should come without having to extend the school year, for the reasons I've provided. "What is stopping these students from getting a job during the school year?" Trying to do well in school. Students would, obviously, do worse overall if they had less time to spend on school-work. This is a bad thing. "And I'm sorry, but the most evidence I can provide for you is that I myself am a 11th grade teacher. I know it sounds illegitimate, but true." This is not "evidence" at all. Also, my opponent stated in Round 1 that teachers "often" struggle to get through the material in a traditional school-year. I would ask why some teachers manage to get through it while others don't. Seems some teachers need to try harder.

So, I thought there is no use for schools to offer such...

Soft drinks should be sold at school

In my opinion, I strongly believe that soft drinks shouldn"t be sold at schools, because soft drinks damages student"s behaviour, concentration, inhibitions, learning abilities and overall general health issues due to the community comments on www.debate.org/opinions/should-soda-be-sold-at-schools. For instance, it makes students aggressive, hyper, stimulant, defiant and disruptive; as well as it could distract student from concentrate on what they are doing. Firstly, I confidently believe that soft drinks shouldn"t be sold at schools, because soft drinks are causing troubles on our behaviour, concentration, inhibition, learning abilities, overall general health caused by the ingredients of sugar, caffeine, additives and chemicals in the soft drinks. Bone breaking caused by the carbonate from soft drinks corrosion bones in our body and made our bones loss calcium & vitamin D; tooth decay caused by sugar from the soft drinks stuck in our tooth and grows bacteria in the plague, which gives us horrible yellow and smelling breath. So, I thought there is no use for schools to offer such expensive drinks that giving us more harm than good and no nutritional benefits, instead schools should using the money on sporting equipment, library books, stationaries, camps, excursions, uniforms and heaps more healthy choices for their students. For instance, soft drinks increasing obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney stones, caramel cancer, disabilities and other life damaging problems to us; all of these problems or issues. Due to scientific reports, if student drinks one can of 600ml of regular soft drink every day for a year is equals to 23kg of sugar and 6.75kg of fats, one can of 250ml equals to 24g of sugar and 1600ml bottle of regular soft drink equals to 64g of sugar. In the end, I strongly suggest schools should brought fruits for the caf" to sell as energy booster, because the sugar in fruits are natural and gives us heaps of vitamins and minerals. Overall, I absolutely believe that soft drinks shouldn"t be sold at schools, because of distraction to behaviour, concentration, learning abilities, inhibitions and overall general health. It also effects students with increasing of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney stones, caramel cancer, disabilities, diseases and other life damaging or heart problems for students. Just as I said before, soft drinks gives us more harm than good and have no nutritional benefits; if you need energy to boost you up, eats fruits, they are natural energy booster of sugar.
