school uniforms should be allowed
Psh, really? At least give me an argument wouldja?
School uniforms should be required.
'According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, roughly 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States -- that's roughly 2,000 per day. Of those, there are 115 child "stranger abduction" cases each year, which means the child was taken by an unknown person.' These are in the United States where uniform is not compulsory. 'And 100,000 children under 16 years old run away overnight from home or care each year in the UK. In 2010/11, 91 per cent of missing incidents reported to the police were closed within 48 hours, with 99 per cent of all missing cases solved within one year' These are in the United Kingdom where uniform is compulsory. What can we see here? A much higher success rate in the U.K. Whilst lots of different factors can affect this result, a large percentage is due to the children here wearing uniform which allows (if a young child to be found) to be returned to the area where they came from.
School uniforms should be banned
my points stand
should there be school uniforms
Vote King
Puclic Schools Should Require Uniforms
Public schools should require their students to wear uniforms. They would end up saving money for parents, could help stop bullying, and help focus students attention to the lessons that matter. Personal outfits can often be too distracting, revealing, and results in sutdents being bullied for dressing their own way or not being able to fford certain brands of clothing. The debate will consists of 5 rounds 1. Acceptance 2. Argument/Rebuttal 3. Argument/Rebuttal 4. Argument/Rebuttal 5. Conclusions There will be an 8,000 character limit and 72 hours to complete each round.
Against School Uniforms
I take all of my round 2 arguments and pull them down to round 3. Con has given no response nor has he contended at all what so ever to what I have stated in this entire debate. Vote Pro! Vale. Verus ut Christe.
Against School Uniforms
Ave! I accept your challenge. Please present your case.
Uniforms in schools/workplaces should all be unisex/gender neutral
Modeling or themed uniforms are not relevant to this argument, What I was referring to is uniform in shopping centres, Fast food chains etc. An employee is representative of the company, However they would be no less representative all wearing the same uniform, Instead of skirts being for girls for example. As you said about not seeing any reason to go before the community to change public school rules, That is irrelevant as this argument is about why they should be changed not how we would need to change them, Also is the mental health of our youth not an adequate reason? Many children and adults are now questioning their gender identity and forcing them to fall into a binary could be harmful for all involved and often challenges their mental wellbeing.
Should The School Dress code be strictly enforced
Exactly my point, school uniforms prevent such from happening. Yes, it is the girl's fault and she should put more clothes on, however with strict dress codes, this will not happen. No "hot girls" will be permitted to wear provocative clothing, improving studies of other students. Also, the person wearing the specific clothing will not be bullied with this dress code. Usually, in various school women are called horrible things due to cleavage. These words include the one that started with an s that you mentioned in the first round. With strict rules, women and men have a smaller risk of sexual assault, learn better, and slightly lowers bullying. However, not having one provides no actual benefit.
Uniforms in Private Schools
Actually, you don't win just yet. You state that some clothing isn't appropriate for a learning enviroment. That I agree with but I never said anything about dress codes. Should there be dress codes? YES! So, don't get all snappy with me about that. Creativity is something that lives inside us all. We should be able to express ourselves in our clothing and in the actions we do. I have just one thing to ask you, do you even go to a private school?
Reasons why I dislike school
Setting word limits teaches you to flesh out a subject and truly research it and teaches you how to use sources, how to reference, how to cite... It can be frustrating but 5 pages or 10 on how jazz has made music rise back up could be covered in a number of ways. It may seem stupid, but those limits certainly helped teach me how to research, form arguments, and look at the subject in different ways to make the paper longer. You say "Speaking of certain topics, why would you give them. There's a very likely chance that one person, at least, will not know the topic." That is good. That means they will have to learn about the topic and actually further their knowledge. This is not a negative thing. "some of the stuff you learn in school will more likely become irrelevant to you in the future." Sure, some might. However, using the argument that you want to not learn things because you may not use them is, to me, a little silly. Learning is always good, having knowledge is good. Just because you feel you may not use it does not mean that you won't. Again, learning is good. People say this with things like Math or Literature classes and I find it odd people don't want to have knowledge. Yes, some teachers suck. It is unfortunate when you get a bad teacher, but not much of a debate there... About the P.E. It may seem stupid, but those limits certainly helped teach me how to research, form arguments, and look at the subject in different ways to make the paper longer. I never minded changing, I'd rather not get what I'm wearing sweaty or dirty from whatever activity there was that day.
Uniforms
OK, Thanks!
