school uniforms should be allowed
Sorry, but you're the one who is against school uniforms. I suggest you start posting some arguments or else you will lose this debate.
School Uniforms are unnecessary
It's not to literally advertise the school, it is just to create awareness about the school. If school uniforms don't exist in schools, students, especially the female ones, can dress indecently just to attract the attention of their male counterparts. Which can furthermore lead to rape or other things like sexual harassment.
School Uniforms
I would like to first apologize for not responding. I did not forget, I just didn't have access to a computer, and I am extremely sorry. It is true that there are many other ways to show individuality other than clothes worn, but it is still taking away one off the ways a student can show individuality, and if you take away one, then you make it easier to say "yes" to taking away another, and another. I know that at my school, the only people who show pride in the sports teams are those on the teams and the cheerleaders. Nobody wants to show pride for a school they dislike, has bad sports teams, and is run poorly. Even if school uniforms are bought by parents, you can't say it is helping with the cost. If you can't afford/don't want to buy a lot of clothes for your son/daughter, you don't have to get everyone to wear the same clothes, you can buy a couple t-shirts and a couple pairs of pants, and have them wear those instead. With some uniforms (not all) there is also the cost of dry cleaning, which can cost a lot of money after a while. This may sound biased a little, and I apologize if it does, but when I looked at the pictures you offered me, as well as some I found myself, my first thought was "There is no way in h*** I would wear that." It may look smart, but I have never been one to wear clothes for the image they portray. If you want to dress smartly, you can do so, but it isn't fair to force others to do the same. You stated that people have treated you with more respect when wearing the school uniform, but like you stated earlier, clothes are not the only way to express yourself, and I have been treated with much more respect than other kids my age tend to receive because I give respect to adults. When you say "Hey, whassup man?" you get less respect from an adult than when you say "How are you today Mr. Smith?" Actions can have a far bigger impact on people than your clothes. Again, I apologize for not replying to your earlier argument with more punctuality. I hope you may understand my point of view a little better now. Thank you.
Mandatory School Uniforms are beneficial to schooling
Hello there... I'd like to accept your proposition and I look forward to an interesting debate! I am fortunate to live in a part of the world (British Columbia Canada) where uniforms are not mandatory and liberty and individuality are embraced rather than shoved to the side in favour of strict regimen, which is too often the case in English speaking first world countries. My mum had to suffer through 12 years of uniforms and private school, and her brother was not permitted to go to his final exams in his Grade 12 year - because he wasn't in uniform. This had a very negative effect in his life and so I have personal reasons (although they are, of course, not fair game) as well as rational reasons to be strongly against the use of uniforms in schools. If my school instituted uniforms tomorrow, I would voluntarily drop out. The same goes for metal detectors on entrance and other effort to compromise the liberty of students in a school. Now you know where I stand, let the debate begin!
School Uniforms are a Good Idea.
Hi there, thanks for starting this debate! So, let me start with....why doesn't anyone ever think about what the kids want? Blah blah blah, bullying and safety, stuff like that. But then, if they're all wearing uniforms, doesn't that make them all look like clones? Also, the uniforms will cost money, and they'll have to wash them often. Their parents won't get away from buying regular clothes either- no kid will want to wear their school uniform on the weekend or during summer. So, good luck =)!
Mandatory School Uniforms are beneficial to schooling
I realize now that the argument I wanted to use for my previous shool uniform debate doesn't actually apply under my resolution. So rather than go through the awkwardness of saying that in the debate and hoping for a tie, I decided to create a new resolution to boost the number of debates I participate in during my membership. Resolved: Mandatory School Uniforms are beneficial to schooling Now has come the time for definitions to be had: Mandatory: necessary, compulsory School Uniforms: outfits mandated by the school to apply to all same-gendered students alike, that is unique to each school. Beneficial: do more good than harm Schooling: the act of learning from a school system's curriculum. This can take multiple different forms, whether social or academic. The first round shall be for acceptance by my opponent. Second round shall be for case positions only, meaning my opponent may not refute my case during that round. From there, all arguments, whether refutation or reconstruction, are valid and permissible. I merely ask that the final round include no new arguments. The burden of proof for this debate will be shared between myself and my opponent. I must defend a case where the uniforms are beneficial and my opponent must advocate for a case proving that they are, indeed, detrimental. I now await an opponent.
School uniforms should not be allowed in schools
School uniforms are costly ( contrary to popular belief), destroys personality, the list goes on. The truths are self-evident that students should not be forced wear uniforms, and in the case were schools make uniforms mandatory the students do not even have a say in the matter. It is unjust to make students go through such an attack on their freedoms.
Public School Students should wear School Uniforms
Thank You for those arguments but No matter what you dress students in, they will always find a way to pass judgement upon their peers; there are many other ways to judge people and form cliques, some of these things are: hair style hair color height weight accessories (ie necklaces, watches and etc.) odor (type of perfume/clone and etc.) the way one walks smoking habits http://everydaylife.globalpost.com... This can lead to forms of bullying. also They cost more than other clothes Even with uniforms, parents would still need to purchase "regular" clothes for when students are not in school, thus creating an additional expense. A 2012 presentation by North Brunswick Township Public Schools in New Jersey reported the average cost for families to purchase uniforms would be about $300 per student each year PLUS clothes for after school. People don't stay in uniform all day. Then there is summer. People who wear uniforms have to buy the same amount of clothes PLUS their uniforms http://everydaylife.globalpost.com...
Uniforms
Uniforms in school are unnecessary. Uniforms are needed in the army where soldiers need to know who is on their side. In school, Uniforms won't help students learn more, But learning more is the purpose of school. Uniforms are too much trouble for very little benefit: schools would have to design special dress codes, Lots of students would get in trouble for not wearing uniforms, The schools would have to spend money on making uniforms, Etc. Uniforms in school violate freedom of expression. Students should be allowed to wear what they want as long as it doesn't distract other students. Coming to school in a bikini distracts other students, But not wearing a uniform doesn't. Students should be able to choose what they wear and be fashionable! School would be a very boring place if everybody had the same clothes. Wearing one uniform would be very problematic. If a student spills something on their uniform, They won't be able to come to school until it's washed. If a student rips their uniform, They won't be able to come to school until they get a new one. This is so much trouble that could have been avoided if there were no uniforms in school. Always wearing a uniform will make it dirty, And it will have to be washed all the time. It's better to wear different clothes. Making a uniform mandatory won't help students choose clothes. Nobody is forcing you to choose what to wear, You can wear one tracksuit for the whole year (very similar to a uniform, Heh). Nobody spends hours on putting together outfits, That's nonsense. Forcing others to wear uniforms because you can't choose what to wear to school isn't right. Other students aren't responsible for your issues.
