As captain of the debate team, it seems rather unlikely...

    Feminism is necessary

Thanks again, Pro, for your response and thanks for creating this debate. It's definitely been interesting. Having said that, I did have a few concerns regarding your last argument. Let me explain: Dropped Argument Last round I very directly said that my opponent's definition of "requisite" should be disregarded. I said this because she was using the definition of a noun, and the word "necessary" is used as an adjective in the debate resolution "Feminism is necessary". Because of this, I said, Pro's definition/argument should be disregarded. So, with that in mind, what was my opponent's response???? NOTHING. She didn't even ATTEMPT to discredit my argument. By being silent, I can only presume she did so because she was not able to refute my argument. As captain of the debate team, it seems rather unlikely that she just forgot to respond. After all, with only 2,000 characters per round, it's not a very long debate. I encourage the voters to see her drop for what it is, an admission of guilt. What We're Debating Again, my opponent seems to be trying to change the debate as we go along. She brings up many reasons why we should like feminism, but when reading them, ask yourself "Is this what they were supposed to be debating?" I would argue the answer is no. For example... Do we have to have a "fully functional, fair society"? No. Do we have to "live cohesively"? No. Do people have to have "a sense of self-worth and identity"? No. Certainly all those things are nice, but we don't have to have them, therefore, feminism is NOT necessary. Straw Man Argument My opponent has engaged in another logical fallacy. This one is known as a straw man argument. This is done when someone misrepresents her opponent's arguments. [5] I never said that the age of something determined it's worth. What I said was that we can tell something is NOT necessary if we can live without it. Even if that something is helpful, if we can go on without it, it's NOT necessary. That's exactly what we see with feminism. Feminism may or not be beneficial, but that's NOT what we're debating. We're debating if it's necessary, and since we could (and have) lived life without it... It's not necessary. No Semantics Here I used generally accepted definitions from a reliable dictionary. Conclusion I think the choice is clear. I showed that feminism is NOT necessary. After I did that, Pro tried to change what we were debating in order to salvage her chances of winning. I ask the voters to recognize her attempt, and to vote for Con accordingly. Sources: 5. http://www.nizkor.org...

    Feminism is relevant

In this debate, I will be defining feminism as a philosophy/ideology/belief that believes that women should be liberated from their specific faced prejudices and social injustices to therefore become equal to the folks who are not facing such prejudices and social injustices. Note that this debate is about feminism in itself, not the modern feminist movement. I look forward to hearing your arguments.

    Gaming and Feminism

G'devening from Tacoma, WA. I am against the statement that gaming is that of a sexist culture and is not an issue that the belongs in the focus of modern feminism. Definitions: Feminism: The belief that women are subjugated, excluded, or mistreated by society or a specific culture. Video Games/Gaming Culture: The content featured through video games, (as in characters, settings, situations, or interactions), and their impressions on the player. Sexism: The conscious act of dividing and segregating based on gender, usually to the effect of one party's detriment.

However, the current 'feminism' movement across the...

    Feminism in America (in 2017)

By definition feminism is: "the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes." So in other words, feminism is believing women should have equal rights as men. To this definition, I agree wholeheartedly. Men and women should have equal rights (to an extent - maternity leave etc). However, the current 'feminism' movement across the western world (or at least NA) doesn't follow the true meaning of the word. Modern 'feminists' are mostly SJWs trying to raise women above, and to push down men. Most women polled across the states don't even label themselves as feminists anymore because of these radical 'feminists'. These 'feminists' constantly attack men, get triggered by things trivial and are unable to see where rights are balanced. I disagree with you that true feminism isn't needed anymore in the US, for there are still a few instances where women are at a disadvantage to men. The pay gap is a myth, yet there is still sexism, and sexual harassment of women: which I do NOT support. In these ways feminism is still needed. In summary: I am completely for true feminism, but I think the 'feminism' movement right now is toxic and detrimental to society.

Modern Feminism (Third-Wave Feminism) Destroys Men and Their Families

I (pro) will be arguing that modern feminism destroys men and their families and doing so creates negative family relationships and an unnecessary strain on our economy. Con will argue against this idea. If con accepts the debate, he/she must not forfeit or will automatically lose the debate. The definition of modern (or 3rd wave) feminism taken from Wikipedia ... https://en.wikipedia.org... Third-wave feminism refers to several diverse strains of feminist activity and study, whose exact boundaries in the history of feminism are a subject of debate, but are generally marked as beginning in the early 1990s and continuing to the present. It is referred to as an "individual movement", because part of the purpose is to redefine what it is to be a feminist. Pro and con will use this definition of modern feminism and third-wave feminism for their arguments. Rules for this debate are as follows ...

Therefore, if I can find even one example of modern...

    Modern Feminism is dead

Before I start my speech, let me just say a definition that will hold a major part in this debate - dead. See, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary says that dead means "no longer having interest, relevance, or significance". This basically means that the resolution is saying that modern feminism doesn't have an impact on our world anymore. Therefore, if I can find even one example of modern feminism being "alive" (impacting the world in some way), I win this debate. Also, keep in mind that this does not mean that feminism has to be doing good. Even if feminism is bad for us, it is still considered "alive". So now I am going to refute what my opponent has said in their speech. In my opponent's speech, they talk about the negative effects of feminism on society, pointing out the hateful posts, the stupid trends, etc. However, this only proves my point. Feminism is "alive", feminists are doing things (whether or not they are good) that have an impact on the world, meaning that feminism is not dead. I would actually like to point out one specific thing my opponent said - "modern feminism is stupid and shouldn't exist". Even my opponent says that modern feminism exists and is having an impact on the world, as he is saying that it shouldn't exist (implying that it does now). So, I am not going to make a case for this debate. Pro has burden of proof, meaning all I have to do is properly refute what my opponent has said to win. I thank my opponent for their case. Good luck!

Rebuttal: I concede my opponent"s arguments My case: I do...

Is feminism needed in today's society

Definitions: Feminism- the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes (1) Observation: In this context, my opponent implies should, not the strict sense of the word "need". Rebuttal: I concede my opponent"s arguments My case: I do concede my opponent"s arguments, but only because they do not matter in this debate. Feminism is needed for maintaining this equality. Without having this equality, atrocities become more probable. Feminism helps us maintain the status quo I conceded. Without people having this feminism ideology, equality decreases. Essentially, people who think there needs to be no equality, start to be more lenient, if not just advocating for inequality. Thus, vote for keeping the feminism ideology if you want to maintain the theory that we should treat men and women equally. Thanks. (1) https://www.merriam-webster.com...

While misogyny has caused not only the mistreatment of...

Feminism is cancer of contemporary society

Well, first of all You have to understand, that feminism, misandry and matriarchy are three very different things. Matriarchy is identical to patriarchy, with the exception that the roles are reversed and the woman is the authority figure, feminism does NOT support that. Misandry is the expression of hatred towards the male gender, feminism does NOT support that, either. Feminism strikes to correct some very obvious and toxic treatments and social beliefs towards women until they are equal to men. It is very simple. The reason why this movement was named 'feminism' is that women are considered to be mistreated more in comparison to men. It is much like racism towards black people. Misandry does exist, but it does not hurt men socially or politically. While misogyny has caused not only the mistreatment of women but also the lives of women. Admittedly, there are people who call themselves 'feminists' in order to excuse their sexist actions, but this percentage is very minor and the whole movement should not be brought down because of the mistakes of minor. Feminism is needed for plenty of reasons. It is a problem that in rape, the woman gets hate for being too 'provoking' or wearing inappropriate clothes. No is no! Women don't say no and they mean yes, they say no because that's their answer. Feminism also benefits men. Society treats men like they are animals, it's their 'hormones' they say, 'they can't help but think of sex' or the most irritating phrase 'boys will be boys". This actually underestimates men's intelligence. Such words allude that men only seek sex and are willing to commit rape for it. Such words allude that men are not capable of handling and restraining themselves. Feminism also seeks to bring down all those patriarchal opinions that men should constantly prove their masculinity and never shed a tear. Feminism is a movement that strikes for equality.

    Feminism is harmful to society

Hi thanks for challenging me to a debate. Anyway I want to argue that i disagree with most of feminism ideologies. Feminism is very harmful to society because they hate men. Men do not benefit from feminism.
