But, if you look at it logically it doesn't make since to...

    Public Schools should have uniforms

First off there is no reason for there to be any school uniforms. Unless if you are in sports! Obviously, you wear them then. There might be alot of reasons. One, it breeds professionalism. But, if you look at it logically it doesn't make since to wear school uniforms like private schools do. Yes, us public school could be better with school uniforms mainly of the fact of that there wouldn't be a school dress code we all have to abed by... What? Please be more clear. Just a uniform but the only reason we don't is because public schools are from the state and the private schools are not.. NOT SCHOOL OF THE PUBLIC KIND FOR UNIFORMS!!!! I did not understand Con. Freedom of Expression doesn't count. Imagine being in a wedding and you talk about how sexy one of the newlyweds are in bed would get you kicked out. You being kicked out is 100% just. As such to school can send you with better clothes if yours don't reach the wanted way.

Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

My Arguments 1. Uniforms may increase a student’s self esteem because they do not have to worry constantly to be better dressed than those around them. [1] Many kids are discouraged by the fact that they don't own, or cannot afford some of the clothing other kids can. Uniforms put all kids at the same level, and takes that much more stress off the students that cannot afford the latest "fashion". [2] By implementing uniforms confidence is boosted and negative peer pressure is eliminated. Over 75% of schools that implemented school uniforms noticed a drop in peer pressure. [3] 2. Uniforms improve learning by not allowing kids to be distracted. Clothes can be a huge distraction when you are in the classroom, especially if you are bored. Kids always want to know what others are wearing and even judge other students over it. Uniforms eliminate this problem and helps kids to stay focused in class. 3. Uniforms show that everyone there with you is part of your school. It shows you are all part of a team. It promotes school spirit and shows that everyone there is "on the same side". [4] This togetherness helps to eliminate division among students at the school and reduces bullying; giving a sense of community is beneficial to the mental well being of a student. [5] 4. Uniforms help the school faculty to quickly identify who is part of the school and in the end could actually help in keeping strangers and potentially dangerous people off the campus. This helps to make students feel safer at school. School uniforms may also eliminate gang and clique symbols bringing about a feeling of safety and togetherness. Safety is very important when increasing the amount of students who enroll in a school. 5. Bullies like to pick on kids who are lesser than them, and therefore tend to pick on kids who do not wear quality or popular clothes. [6]By implementing school uniforms this problem is solved. School uniforms encourage discipline through neatness, order, and equality among students. [6] 6. School uniforms encourage creative forms of self expression. Since students lose the ability to express themselves in certain ways through the clothes they were, they will be more likely to express themselves through things such as their personality, academic performance, clubs, and sports. It pushes students to put themselves out there. 7. School uniforms reduce violence and student behavioral problems. [7] Long Beach, California District School held a study comparing violence and behavioral problem rates among students before and after uniforms were implemented. In the five years following the implementation of school uniforms there was an 86% drop in violent assaults. Vandalism cases dropped from 1409 to 106. [9] Schools that implemented school uniforms also showed to have a higher graduation rate and attendance rate than schools without school uniforms. Other decreases were noted in reports of gang-related activities and student fights, along with graffiti, property damage, battery and administrative assist. “[10] [1] http://everydaylife.globalpost.com... High school students should wear uniforms.

For this debate, I will argue for a school uniform, although I do not necessarily support it. Your main argument is that clothing is a way of showing creativity, and expressing one's self, which is hard to argue against. However, a school is a learning environment created for everyone to have a safe and positive experience, and as uncertain as it may sound at first, personalized clothing can be a opposition to this. First of all, bullying may occur as less well-off students may be harassed for their clothing, if it does not fit the modern "style". Second of all, some clothing may be considered indecent, and to put a strict line to differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable clothing is difficult, and their will always be loopholes. To address your concern about school spirit, the uniform may be democratically "elected", or voted upon by a mix of students, teachers, and parents, to create the perfect costume representing the school in a mature, and fashionable way. Private Schools Should Have Their Students Wear Uniforms

This is the argument from my former account xXCryptoXx. This argument was not plagiarized, for it is my own work being used on a different account I created. My opponent broke my rule that first round is for acceptance, and therefore loses conduct points. My Arguments 1. Uniforms may increase a student’s self esteem because they do not have to worry constantly to be better dressed than those around them. [1] Many kids are discouraged by the fact that they don't own, or cannot afford some of the clothing other kids can. This helps to make students feel safer at school. School uniforms may also eliminate gang and clique symbols bringing about a feeling of safety and togetherness. Other decreases were noted in reports of gang-related activities and student fights, along with graffiti, property damage, battery and administrative assist. “[10] Contentions “Uniforms ultimately cost more” The basic uniform, khakis and an oxford, can be produced cheaply. In fact, the basic uniforms are actually cheaper than lots of clothes found in the store. If possessing a uniform becomes a problem, many organizations help with getting them to children. “Uniforms do not teach children how to deal with people who are different then themselves” It does however, eliminate difference through clothing, thus bringing kids on to an equal level. “Cliques will still form.” It doesn’t matter what uniforms can’t do, rather it is important to focus on the plethora of things uniforms accomplish. In the same, you can’t say “glasses don’t raise grades,” because that focuses on what glasses can’t do, ignoring all the things glasses can do. “It is impossible to prevent all outside intrusion” It doesn’t matter whether uniforms can stop all outside intrusion if uniforms as a whole help to prevent intruders from coming on campus. “Children will still ask for designer labels for outside of school clothing.” This is overall irrelevant to the debate. “If you need uniforms to distinguish between public and catholic/private schools it's time to re-evaluate where your child is going” Implementing uniforms isn’t about distinguishing from other schools, rather it is about the benefits uniforms directly provide to the school implementing them. “Uniforms teach children that in order to get along everyone must conform to the same standards. “ Conformity helps in keeping things under control, and is something that will be seen in everyday society even after the student is out of school, therefore this isn’t actually a bad thing. “like i said uniform is strict and conduct a boring environment that unsuitable” Uniforms do not create a boring environment, rather they promote an orderly, neat, and professional environment which is an environment suitable for learning in. Very few countries feel the need to put most of their children in school uniforms.

Very few countries feel the need to put most of their children in school uniforms. Mostly it is a British thing not shared by the rest of the world. Outside Britain, most schools with uniforms are private schools trying to set themselves apart from the state education system. Uniform is almost unknown in European countries, yet their schools often have high standards of behaviour and learning. Until the 1990s uniform was very rare in the USA. Since then some US schools and districts have introduced uniform, but the large majority of schools still do not have it. Some of those which did adopt uniform have since given up on it again.

In school we are not allowed to retain some of our basic...

That public schools should enforce uniforms

Before i begin allow me to provide the following definitions: Enforce: to enact a mandate. Should: Moraly or logicly right. Also the affirmative has the burden of proving how enforcing uniforms is benifitial on balance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cont 1: Uniforms will affect the education of the poor. When asking for students to dress a certain way in order for them to attend that school would definately hurt the poor. Education might be hurt or even loss due to the fact that money is a big problem. The negative believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn regardless of how they look, dress, or even how rich or poor they are. Cont 2: Uniforms restrics and decreases freedom. In school we are not allowed to retain some of our basic rights such as the freedom of speech or press ect.. If we enforce uniforms, surely we are taking away the freedom of creativity. Some people dress how they feel, or what they belive in. Some dress for a special someone or to enact what has happend to them. Its like adjusting what you wear to who you are. Cont 3: Uniforms go agaisnt the idea of diversity. When switching to uniforms we are reliving the past. We wanted only one race to rule: the whites. (KKK). When switching to uniforms, we first would need someone to decide what the uniform should be. When that person decides what the uniform is,then he enacts it. This is wrong for two reasons. First, the person who decides would have too much power on his hands. Second, the person who enacts the decided uniforms is saying that his decision is right and no other forms of clothing may be chosen. Cont 4: Uniforms do not solve our current problems. Some might say that enacting uniforms would help prevent discrimination by clothing and other such. Thats not true because some decide to alter the uniforms by either slight effects or major ones. Uniforms itself is a style so yes, judging still happens. For these four reasons i urge a negative vote.

    School Uniforms

Dress codes do not take as much effort as you might think. As long as what you are wearing is appropriate, then you are all set. Some uniform codes are quite severe, and in my opinion over the top. They limit the creativity of children so much that when all is said and done, no one is unique. There is also no need to buy new clothes. Do adults buy new clothes every day that they work? No, they do not. Do you buy new clothes every day in the summer? Of course not! It is not difficult to choose what you are going to wear in the morning, just be yourself! Dress codes are just one of the many options that a school could choose. Instead of a dress code a school could just have a policy that clothing needs to be appropriate. Will that cost the school anything? Absolutely not. Schools need to make sure that they are nurturing the creativity of children, not obliterating it with restrictions.

Should Uniforms be Required in Public Schools

This is like my sixth or fifth time debating school uniform, but instead of copying my standard argument I will try to use logic to rebut and build up my arguments this time, for challenge and for fun. "Discipline: If an adult wore a slobbish outfit to work, they would not have the energy or will to behave professionally. The same goes for students. If a student is wearing whatever they find in their closet, they will not want to try as hard as they normally do." What do you ever mean? Just because you wear casually does not mean you'll work casually and unwell. Perhaps it is because the uniform is TOO professional, that students don't work as well. Think about it. Uniforms don't feel comfortable to everyone. Furthermore, some students feels like it limits and attacks their right to expression. Therefore by feeling uncomfortable in the extremely-professional clothes, they would actually "not want to try as hard as they normally do", as my opponent claims. School Spirit: When all students are wearing the same outfit, they will feel a sense of unity, even if they do not know any other people. Are people really unified if they wear the same thing? Short people can still be ridiculed by tall people. Racist students will bully others on their skin color regardless of the fact that they're all wearing the same things. People with mental disabilities will remain teased. Our modern society's students are too clever and see through everything, they'll find something to disrupt this so-called "unity". Unfortunately, wearing the same thing does not mean being equals in these bullies' minds. Reduce Non-Academic Distractions: Yet at the same time there are distractions. There are clear cases where students complain about their uniforms, one even about a mere emblem! Regardless of whether the student was right or not to complain, this source [http://ic.galegroup.com...] clearly highlights the problem of students being more distracted than ever with the addition of school uniforms. The case here [http://articles.latimes.com...] shows us a complaint from a student's parent about the school motto imprinted on the uniform shirt. Have students complained about needing uniforms?? Nope. But with uniforms, students become distracted from school and worry about their self-image ever so more based on their uniform. It is obvious that we cannot distract these students. We must have the best environment possible, without uniforms' problem. "Also, it will prevent guys from ogling over a girl's cleavage, while preventing girls from staring at a guy's butt." What do you mean? Girls and boys can be equally hot in school uniforms. Students still gonna stare at each other in love regardless of what their wear. Less Stress on Parents/Guardians: Not all work requires uniforms. For those that don't require uniforms, using uniforms will decrease the students' abilities to chose their clothing wisely. My opponent has only used one source to justify his reasoning. That is simply not enough. You need the addition of logic, and actual cases plus evidence to prove your points. Back to you, SongGeek324.

    school uniforms

Schools are where kids spend most of their time at, and that is where they learn almost everything they know so why not know how to dress modestly? After school, most kids will just go home or play in sports and other after school activities where it does not really matter how you dress. Schools are a great place to learn how to dress modestly and to be independent.

    Whether students should wear uniforms

Being forced to wear school uniforms will do little to prevent bullying from happening. If a student isn't being bullied about their clothing they could get picked on for what shoes they wear or what accessories or backpack they have. School Uniforms don't create a safer environment but instead enforce a more hostile one. Students who violate the uniform dress code can be taken out of instructional time based on their outfit. Some students might also stress over having enough uniforms or how much money they spent on their uniform, these feelings exist with both regular clothing and uniform apparel. While uniform policies try to even the playing field among students, students find ways to break the dress code or modify their uniform to outshine each other. Uniforms don't even the playing field instead they create a whole other playing field that students still compete on. School uniforms enforce unrealistic expectations of unity amongst a large number of people. In the real world you don"t dress exactly the same as the person next to you. Everyone strives to be their own person in society and one way of showcasing your individuality is through uniforms. Students can begin to lose a sense of individuality by continuously looking like everyone else. Students should have the right to express themselves through their choice of dress as long as it abides by the safety dress code regulations. Uniforms can"t fix the bigger picture of creating a safer environment for students to attend.

Whether students should wear uniforms Part 2

    1) Other efforts can be made to make students feel more united that don't include stripping them of their individuality. 2) While it"s true that less wealthy students can't always afford to compete with other students, lesser fortunate students won"t always be able to afford the high prices of school uniforms. 3) School uniforms negatively enforce the idea that all people are the same, should look the same, and should fit in with everyone else. Schools should promote individuality rather than enforcing conformity. Pro"s argument can be considered a Red Herring fallacy argument because their focal points are centered on bullying instead of school uniforms. C) All schools should not mandate or require school uniforms.

Should every children wear school uniforms at every school

Should we wear uniforms? As a student myself I can say from experience I don't see the point in uniforms. As children our forms of expression based upon personalities are limited, So the way we dress and carry ourselves reflect who we are as a person and if wearing a uniform would generalize us then it should not happen. As for bulling it will still happen. Bulling is not the reflection of the bullied but the bully. Generalizing clothes will not help, And many still will find work around. Shortening skirts, Fancy accessories, Etc. Such uniforms do nothing but add extra burden and financial if not time consuming weight upon a student and family

    Also, students hate uniforms. ......

    Puclic Schools Should Require Uniforms

R1: Does uniforms save money? First off, I would like to point out that my opponent has no evidence stating that what she has said is true. If she said something happens as a result of something. Then she has the burrden of proof. She must prove that what she says is true. However, I would like to point out that students can save ordanary clothes from a year to year bases, and that idea is not just subject to uniforms. Also, the only reason for having schools is to teach kids, not save or make money. R2: Does it help schools? It may help schools a little bit however, they do not need more money. The average school can afford to spend $12,979 per student per year (every year) [1]. Extra money would barely help the average public school in America. Also, students hate uniforms. In many cases students have went up in protest over not being able to have the liberty to choose what they want to wear [2,3,4]. In most cases uniforms are a 'hot button' for students. If students are mad over what they wear and everytime they look at themselves in the mirror are reminded of the anger they have uniforms, then this will create a huge destraction from their studies. It can also errupt into huge protests (like the links up above). The cons outway they pros in this issue. R3: Bullying and other stuff my opponnet said... Dr. David L. Brunsma an assistant sociology professor at the University of Missouri. Conducted research that last 8 years long on the subject of School Uniforms and there effects on grades and bullying. In his concluding report he stated that he found no statistically significant differences in school climate supporting a school uniform policy. In addition, the data do not support an improvement in academic achievement. In fact, there was a slightly negative impact at the 10th grade level in reading. There was also no significant change in school attendance that could be credited to school uniforms [5]. So this basically rules out everything else my opponent stated after the lucrative part of her arguments. D1: Forcing kids to dress alike will only help create more followers than leaders. Due to the research of Dr. David L. Brunsma, my opponnet's statement on Catholic schools is refutted. As for the rest of what she said about the future work place. That is the whole point of my contention. In the future the people would not be able to establish their individuality and who they are, which is why they must do it while they are young. If they don't it would have disasterous effects on students in the future. D2: Uniforms are unconstitutional. The point of limits on free speach in public schools are not equal to that of freedom expression. The point of rules against cursing is to mantain respect for peers and teachers alike, as opposed to freedom of expression has barley any that could mean harm to other students. For example: you can't compare me insulting the teacher or any of my peers to me wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans. One must have a very good reason to place limits on anothers constitutional rights and quite frankly saving or earning an extra buck is not a good reason! I will now wait for my opponnet's response.
